To Dance With My Father Again

I saw my Dad a couple of weeks ago. I love him beyond words. He and my Mom divorced when I was five or six years old. I still remember how I used sit as close to him as I could when I rode in his Grand Prix. It's funny how clear my emotions where at that age. When we left my Dad I was so heartbroke. I was a Daddies boy. My Dad inspired me to dance. I loved to see him dance. When he danced he was happy. When I dance I'm happy.

I wish I could get the moments in time back that I missed with him. I'm a grown man who's still a Daddies boy. I watched my Dad become a complete man over the years. He not only did his best to take care of us, but he took care of his sisters and brothers well into adulthood after my Grandmother passed. I know where I got my love and burden for humanity from. Anyone who knows my Dad says the same thing, he's a good man.

I love my kids the way he loved us. Even though the marriage didn't workout, I still had the greatest Father because he poured his heart into mind. A couple of years ago on his Birthday we danced together. Now I just want to dance with my Father again. These thoughts were inspired by Luther Vandross's song, "Dance With My Father".

At least you have the opportunity to share that with your own children.

Dear Mr. MC, wonderful, evoking-love, tribute of your Dad--unsung hero's, of a child's perspective of manhood, responsibility, love and family-hood; as the foundation of life.

May you and your Dad, MC; have many, many more memories to "make" while ..dancing..

Dear Phil..may bridges be crossed for you..just posted this on my blog; and share it here with MC, ya'll, and his tribute/Ode, to his Dad; as inspiration to "add."

The master shines.

He never says "mine."
Gold, stone, earth—
They are all the same to him.

He is not bound by sloth,
Nor consumed by his own activity.

He has severed the knots which bind his heart.

MC, your post reminds me of the song "I can only imagine"... and the wondering whether we will dance when we meet our Father God.
"Now I just want to dance with my Father again.".. I'm sure your Father would be very proud to hear you say this!
Love your blog btw.

We NEED more great fathers like that in the world. And I'm a total Daddy's girl so I know exactly where you're coming from, Hammer. :)

Major Jeff,
First of all, Thank All Of U! U know my love for the troops and America. Yes, I am a Proud Navy Vet! I'm always on call for a show for the troops. When U get back in June and after U get rested send me a note and we will get a cup of coffee. My prayers are with U all.

I know your sentiment for your father. That's great!

I sing and play music with my father and the memories are very fond ones. When I get to sing and play with him now, which I did last weekend, I treasure every second ... listening to his voice ... watching his hands on the guitar ... trying to soak it all up.

Rev Val,
A fathers love is so special. I'm glad that you had a,"good cry" in
his memory. Many never know what it is to have a "soul connection" to their father.
Our fathers are the foundation for our lives. Your father lives on through your spirit.
If you get a chance, listen to Luthers song,"Dance with my father" and feel your fathers love ever present.
