An awesome song Hammer and the use of that piano loop with the images of all of those crosses representing soldiers that have been killed gives a haunting feel to the whole thing.
Beautifully done.

Hi Hammer,
I've been a fan of yours ever since the 80s...I am so glad I found your site.

This was an absolutely fantastic video. It's thoughtful, insightful, sensitive, and just wonderful. Thank you...I will be sharing it with my readers at Women Walking In Wisdom's Footsteps.

Hammer,

As a foreigner I don't think it's right to bring war to Iraq simply because of 'Mass Destructive Weapons' (Bush created this thing which is non-existent). Now many American soldiers have been killed and it's true that it's time to call back the soldiers, not sending even more there.

The video is great and I hope your messages will be sent out across the nation.

Hello MC Hammer,

Your profound, thought-provoking video speaks for itself. I'm glad that you're still "Too Legit To Quit."

Thank you for taking a stand and verbalizing what so many people have felt but couldn't express with words as eloquently as you did about a war human hands can't win.

Please keep doing what you do. I have posted a link to your blog at http://www.whenleastedexpected.com.

Regardless of one's politics, I think that all of us who seek to follow in Christ's footsteps have a responsibility to promote what He taught:

Matthew 5:9
"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God"

Matthew 5:21, 22a
"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment"

Matthew 5:38, 39
"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."

Matthew 5:43
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?"

Luke 6:9
Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?"

In fact, even in the Old Testament there are many admonitions that are apropos to this day. Throughout the entire Bible, there is a message that makes it clear what stance Christians should take when it comes to war and vengeance and peace and love.

Psalm 37:11
But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.

Psalm 37:8
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

Proverbs 12:20
There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace.

Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.

Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Proverbs 16:29
A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good.

Proverbs 16:32
Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.

Acts 10:34-37
Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Romans 12:14
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse

Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

As we are taught to incite one another to love and good works, I'm sure that you can understand why I write this to you. It is good to bring an end to the killings but the "right or wrong" does matter here. Either we can be followers of men or followers of God, at least that's what the Bible says.

Wow. I don't even know what to say right now. I've had mixed feelings about the war since it started, not knowing what to believe in the press. In September my husband joined the Army & will be leaving this fall for Iraq. Now it's personal. Below is a link to a series of programs that talks about the events leading up to declaring war in the first place. I was upset after watching it.

Thank you for remembering the soldiers. I'm going to show my husband the video when he gets back home from training. We've both been fans of yours since the 80's.

I have fond memories of skating to 2 Legit 2 Quit at the roller rink.

Hammer, I caught some of your interview on Hannity’s America Sunday night. I thought you handled yourself very well and made your point loud and clear.

What many of us don’t consider regarding the war in Iraq is that more than six hundred thousand Iraqi’s have died as a result of this war. So many people are putting their heads in the sand regarding the realities of this situation. They want the troops to continue fighting a losing battle and to remain as occupiers of Iraq because they have bought in to irrational fear.

I heard one commentator say that politicians are entirely too brave with other peoples children and I certainly agree.

George Bush needs to consider how the world will look twenty years from now. Instead of eliminating terrorists through his war in Iraq he has actually become the greatest recruiter for a new crop of future terrorists the likes of which the world has never seen before. Who are these terrorists of the future? I would suggest they will be the devastated Iraqi children who have lived through horrors no child or human being should ever have to live through.

Twenty years from now we will not see them smiling in to cameras on Fox news, waving American flags saying “thank you Mr. Bush for bringing us Democracy! Even though my parents or loved ones were killed, I had to walk by dead bodies to get to school, I lived in constant fear from terrorist and coalition forces who were both capable of killing innocent civilians at any time. Did I mention I wet my bed every night as I heard bombs going off, but some how the right to vote was sure worth it all!” I certainly doubt that these children will have this view of our great country.

I certainly do not wish for these children to grow up to be terrorists. Unfortunately history suggests that these children will have no where else to direct their anger.

Every action has consequences. There is an ideal and then there is a reality. This war has too long been a vision of idealism with reality being shrugged off as nothing more than some kind of surreal video game. It is our children and grand children that unfortunately will reap the awful consequences of this failed policy in Iraq. I can only hope that individuals will do all they can to spread love everywhere they go, because love is the only chance we have.

May you be well, happy and peaceful!

Mr. Hammer,

I too saw your interview on Hannity's America.

I have to disagree with you on bringing the troops home to re-evaluate.

If the troops are brought home from Iraq without a stable government and military to defend the Iraqis it will be like Rwanda, Vietnam, etc all over again.

If the troops are sent back, I'm sure it would be under the blue helmets of the UN. Being a Marine Corps veteran I would rather fight for America than for the United Nations.

Sincerely,

Mike

P.S.

I hope your come back is successful.

Hey man, all I have to say is that if it wasn't for another country doing the same thing for us that we are now doing for Iraq, we wouldn't be here as this country now.

During the American Revolution, France (and Spain) sent money and Troops here to fight with the colonists against the British.

The French lost 6,722 of their soldiers helping us gain our independence. If you look at the population of the countries back then, this was a numerically larger number and percentage of deaths the French suffered helping us than we have suffered helping Iraq.

I guess if anyone thinks its' OK for us to take help from someone else but not give the same support for other nations, then we should leave Iraq. I don't think its' OK for us to say "Hey, it doesn't involve us so why should we be there. What if the French had done that back then?

Nice video, I love the respect you showed.
We must not be so naive to that that evil will ever listen to reason. We must finish the fight.
Yes, mistakes have been made, but what war ever goes to plan? NONE.
More Americans are murdered each year by eligible aliens than all the soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq together since the conflict began over 4 years ago. How about a video on that? Cheap shot about New Orleans Hurricane, Local and state Governments failed more than any other agencies. Hope that the hurricane misses you is not a plan..Herding thousands into the Super Dome is stupid and lack of planing on Local government.
