Fwd: Breast Cancer Awareness

This weekend in Oakland, I will be supporting a play called "Touch"that deals with a heartbreaking love story of a young man and his young wife fighting against the evil that is breast cancer. This is a recent true story of David and Tiffany Dunson.

Every man or woman who love and cares for the women, who have built and
carried our community, stood by us, and loved us through it all, should
attend this play to help spread the word and create awareness about
this
evil disease that is killing our women.

The play is Saturday February 24 at 7pm and Sunday February 25 at 5pm at
the Scottish Rite
1547 Lakeside Drive Oakland, Ca

Dear MC... great initiative, for an important awareness!! I hope this play revives hope for cancer sufferers and cancer survivors.

In 1998, I was diagnosed with a huge tumour. I sought 3 opinions, and had it removed. It was that ten days waiting to hear back, if it was benign or not, was brutal.. I mean, brutal!!

My tumour was benign, but so large, and it was unusual, and sits in a lab in Toronto for study. I lost a small portion of the outter, left, lower quadrant of my left breast. Bras don't fit right or comfortably any more. The surgeon did a nice job!!

I resonate with these women; I have tasted deep fear, and I have also been graced to taste the joy of being cancer-free!!

But, I can never forget the impact this had on me; it sort of gave me the push to change my lifestyle/diet, etc....

3-4 months after this event(98).. my stomach shut down(99); I am convinced the bacteria which did this; came from that breast surgery....nobody will/would help me prove that though.. but being as I did not have it prior; where did the bacteria come from??

All the best is wished for you and the cast/crew of this very important, meaningful play!!

with loving kindness,
North

As usual you are doing something good that helps people. It is an honor for me to be able for me to call you my friend and not because you are MC Hammer. Because you have and sitll always take the time for all people, not just the Big Shots. And you are in constant search for finding ways to blend the two in order to make life more fair.

THANK YOU

your friend

William, thankyou for your kind words(gentle smiles) and for not accusing me of whining about it; and saw the activism-part of sharing this "experiences:"

the battle-field of illness; is one where even angels fear to tread...it becomes isolating, lonely and void of activity and support. WE become impoverished, bankrupt, destitute; and at the mercy of community crime-gangs, and crooked business's, and slum-lords. siggggh

One might be surprised even, by the decline and loss's. Some friends, even life-long friends, fear illness, and many sufferers of disease, lose their friends, contacts, jobs, and social capital(contact.)

Myself, I went through it all, the whole nine yards; lost everyone, and everything...and their respect, because I am disabled on disability!! I look normal, but my body is weak and I am limited in my physical activity. Doesn't take long, to be "pushed out" into a pasture, deprived, forgotten and invizible to society.

It's all very disturbing, to experience; let alone, have to face these facts.

Once, I was married 15 years, had a baby son.. then my world fell apart for some reason? And here I am.. on some dead-end street(literally.)

with loving kindness, sorry for the novel-sized response.. lol

IF people could only become more aware, of how their isolating a suffering person hurts them... then all my rants will be worth the backlash received in some circles for speaking out..

God Bless you William T; and every ONE of us.

IF you know someone with breast cancer.. go visit them; don't convince yourself; you want to remember them, the way they were.

Always, bear in mind; they love you as much as you love them; and they "need" to see you!

So many walked away from me, in fear; that disease is contagious; or bad luck is contagious. It was shocking, how so many good friends, slowly stopped coming around, until one day, they just didn't....

I cried a river, an ocean and a sea; for clarity. It did not come. One day, I had an epiphany...and I have learned to live with this now, in harmony.

I was like Will Smith in Pursuit of Happyness"... had a little boy, and went from middl-class; to suddenly disabled, on welfare.

whew! movie-stuff.. so many people are suffering in the world..

we must each ask ourselves; how can we ease their suffering? what can I DO, to eliviate the effects for them.. even just a little?

Ooh, a smile, a kind word, a visit, a letter, a call, a hello-card!! Just knowing people love you.. can heal the deepest wound.
